What orgs.gg is

orgs.gg is a Discord Search Engine that helps people discover Discord communities. Indexing is intended to be server-owner controlled and should respect community expectations.

Opt-in indexing (server-level + channel-level)

  • Server opt-in: a server must explicitly enable indexing before its content is searchable.
  • Channel allowlisting: even after server opt-in, only channels the server owner/admin allowlists are eligible for indexing.
  • Fast removal: server owners can request removal/disable indexing, and we provide a removal request form for anyone impacted.

What we store

Depending on the features enabled for a server, we may store:

  • Server metadata: server name, icon hash/URL, description, member count (if available), and settings.
  • Channel metadata: channel name, type, topic, and structure (if allowlisted/needed for browsing).
  • Message content (only if enabled): message text, timestamps, and lightweight identifiers (message/channel/server IDs). Attachments may be stored as references (URLs/filenames) rather than copies.
  • Account/session data: when you sign in with Discord, we store a session identifier and basic account identifiers needed to operate your account.
  • Abuse/removal requests: submissions you send via our reporting/removal forms.

What we do not store (by default)

  • Your Discord password.
  • Private channels that are not allowlisted.
  • Deleted messages once removal is processed (see retention/deletion below).

Retention

  • Indexed content: retained only as long as indexing remains enabled for the server/channel and the content remains available to the bot during ingestion.
  • Logs/diagnostics: short-term logs may be kept to prevent abuse, debug reliability issues, and enforce policies.

Deletion and removal requests

You can request removal of a server, channel, or specific content:

  • Use Opt-out / Removal Request for server/channel/message removal.
  • Server owners/admins should include proof of ownership/admin status when possible.

Abuse reporting

If content indexed on orgs.gg violates policies or is harmful, use Report Abuse. We may remove results, disable indexing, or take other actions.
